HIGH WINDS
In development of the Sun Seeker one of the things we had to consider is Wind. When the Sun Tracker is in the fully raised position it is a large sail on your roof. So, we incorporated a clutch in the lower rotating motor. The Sun Tracker is designed to withstand winds up to 55 MPH in the raised position, it won't stop it, it won't spin it nothing will happen. However, let's say that you're out sightseeing and a micro burst wind of 70 or 75 MPH happens. Don't worry. What could happen is the Sun Tracker could be spun either forward or backward depending on the direction of the wind. This does no damage to the Sun Seeker. You may have to use your remote and realign the Sun Tracker, that's all. Now, we highly recommend that if you see the weather report and it shows high winds simply lay the Sun Tracker down. You wouldn't leave your awnings out if you saw a weather report for high winds would you?
MAINTENANCE:
The Sun Tracker is virtually maintenance free. We do however recommend that you clean your solar panels once in a while. This can be done by putting a duster or rag on the end of a telescoping pole and cleaning the panels without having to get on the roof of your rig.Or raise the Sun Tracker to the upper most postion, then take your hose and spray the panels. All the dirt and dust will run off. Both motors are sealed units and don't ever need any maintenance. The stainless steel will last a life time with no maintenance.
IN THE EVENT YOU LOOSE YOUR REMOTE OR THE BATTERY DIES:
There is a push button on the electronics box to raise, lower and rotate the Sun Tracker. If you happen to loose your remote or the batteries die while your camping. All you need to do, when you are ready to leave is push the down button and hold it until the panels are completely lowered. Next rotate the panels so that the strobe light is facing the rear of the RV. If the battery is dead then just pick up a battery and replace it. Or if it s lost then give us a call and we can replace your remote transmitter.
Hints on aiming the Sun Tracker:
The best way to aim the Sun Tracker to get the maximum amount of power possible is by using your solar controller. Simply switch your solar controller to the "Amps In" position, then by using your remote push the up or down button while watching the "Amps". The amperage will increase or decrease as you raise and lower the Sun Tracker. Once you have the highest amperage showing then the Sun Tracker is at the proper angle. Follow the same procedure to rotate the Sun Tracker to the proper aim to the sun.
SAFTEY:
There is a strobe light included with your system. This is used for security or emergencies. In the event that you have an emergency all you need to do is turn on the strobe light and notify the emergency personal to look for the strobe light and they will be able to locate you much faster possibly saving a life. Also, if you have any problems on the road and need to pull over turn your strobe light on to notify oncoming traffic of your emergency.
