The Sun Tracker "Patent Pending “ is the World’s Only Automatic solar tracking system for RVs. The Sun Tracker can rise up to 45 degrees. This is the highest angle you will ever need depending on the time of year or location. The Sun Tracker also rotates 360 degrees. This allows you to park your RV in Any direction and let the Sun Tracker find the sun.
The Sun Tracker, equipped with 2-135 Watt solar panels and an MPPT solar controller will provide you with 21+ Amps Per Hour as long as the sun is shining. This is a Tremendous amount of power. It will run Most if not All of the appliances in your RV. If you currently have solar panels, No problem. The Sun Tracker has a universal mounting system so, if you have solar panels just get the Sun Tracker frame and add your panels then you will have a tracking system. This will increase your current power 10 fold.
Until now the only solution for solar and your RV was to get a stationary system mounted on your roof. Then when you wanted to get the most power from your panels you would have to climb up on to your roof and manually elevate your panels. We feel that is unsafe and not a good idea. So we developed the Sun Tracker. You Never have to get on your roof to elevate your panels. It is all accomplished by using the provided remote transmitter. Simply aim the remote transmitter towards the Sun Tracker and push the “Up” button and watch your panels elevate to capture the most solar power possible. Then simply spin the panels around to face the sun. That’s it. The Sun Tracker will take over from then. The Sun Tracker will track the sun all day long. When the sun goes down the Sun Tracker will continue to revolve around. We did that for 2 reasons. The 1st reason is to allow you to go camping and park in Any position and be able to capture the most power your solar panels can produce. 2nd during the evening the Sun Tracker revolves around so in the morning it will be positioned right in the sun’s face to replace the power that you used during the night. And the best part is that a complete revolution 360° or 24 hours only consumes .3 amps. So, it’s not using any power to speak of to operate.
By using 6- 6 volt batteries that will give you approx. 700 Amp hours when the sun goes down. The easiest way to figure that out is 700 Amp hours allows a 10 Amp load to run 70 hours, or a 20 Amp load to run 35 hours. You get the idea. Now we never recommend running your batteries below 40% of capacity. See our section on Battery Maintenance
We take Great pride in the manufacture of the Sun Tracker. We use only the finest products possible in the production. The frame is made with high polished 304 Stainless Steel. Because of this you can park your RV on the beach and not have to worry about rust.
There are two motors on the system. A riser motor and a rotating motor. Both motors are internally lubricated with lubricant that will with stand temperatures from 40° Below zero to 140° Above zero. This means that you can camp Anywhere without having to worry about the system seizing up because the lubricant failed. Also, motors are fully sealed; there are no zerk fittings and no maintenance needed. The riser arms slide on Teflon ends that are ¼” thick.
In development of the Sun Seeker one of the things we had to consider is Wind. When the Sun Tracker is in the fully raised position it is a large sail on your roof. So, we incorporated a clutch in the lower rotating motor. The Sun Tracker is designed to withstand winds up to 55 MPH in the raised position, it won’t stop it, it won’t spin it nothing will happen. However, let’s say that you’re out sightseeing and a micro burst wind of 70 or 75 MPH happens. Don’t worry. What could happen is the Sun Tracker could be spun either forward or backward depending on the direction of the wind. This does no damage to the Sun Seeker. You may have to use your remote and realign the Sun Tracker, that’s all. Now, we highly recommend that if you see the weather report and it shows high winds simply lay the Sun Tracker down. You wouldn’t leave your awnings out if you saw a weather report for high winds would you?
